Scrubs is an American medical comedy-drama television series created by Bill Lawrence that aired from October 2, 2001, to March 17, 2010, on NBC and later ABC. The series follows the lives of employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital, which later becomes a Teaching Hospital. The title is a play on surgical scrubs and a term for a low-ranking person because at the beginning of the series, most of the main characters are medical interns.
the Dixie Chicks, Matchbox Twenty, The Goo Goo Dolls, Dave Matthews Band and Ryan Adams. He has a very compassionate nature and an obsession with big Band-Aid gauze pads, especially the mediocre individual ones. He is also very emotionally attached to his roommate and best friend Turk. J.D.'s mother was an alcoholic (played by Cloris Leachman) and his father died of Alzheimer's disease when he was a teenager; J.D. says that this left him with little direction in life until he purchased his first medical bag at the age of eighteen and decided to become a doctor.
The eighth season mostly revolves around the new interns at the hospital introduced in the previous season, with J.D., Turk, Elliot, Carla and Dr. Cox coaching and mentoring them. Dr. Kelso has officially retired, primarily due to his domineering wife Enid (Barbara Hershey), although he stays on as a consultant. New chiefs of medicine are appointed, one being Dr. Taylor Maddox (Courteney Cox), whom J.D., Turk and Elliot have a difficult time adjusting to, particularly due to her disregard for their feelings and ultimately firing Elliot. After being repeatedly passed up for promotion, Dr. Maddox quits Sacred Heart to work as the chief of medicine at a different hospital. The search for a replacement chief leads to an old rival of Dr. Cox (Christa Miller) and Drs. Dorian and Reid (Eliza Coupe).
